Once upon a time, there was a beautiful doll called Nisa. She and her friend Stella (Večernice in Czech) made their remarkable debut at the UNICEF Adopt a Doll and Save a Child charity auction in Prague on Tuesday 28th November 2017. They were the event‘s first ever twins.
Nisa was not just a common girl. She was a fairy who took care of the whole of Crystal Valley. Feeding hedgehogs and watering plants, she was a sweetheart and everyone loved her. Despite that, this beautiful girl held sadness deep inside her heart. Every night she looked up at the stars and dreamed of joining them in the sky. Stars were her only friends. So close but yet so far.
The story of Nisa, the fairy from Crystal Valley and her friend Stella, the brightest star, marked Preciosa’s debut appearance at the UNICEF Adopt a Doll and Save a Child charity auction. They were its first ever twins.
Kicking off at 6.30pm, the star-studded event featured dolls by a number of prominent Czech designers which were auctioned off to the highest bidders. Also in attendance were actor Josef Dvořák, actress Jitka Čvančarová, writer and journalist Barbara Nesvadbová, and Czech Miss Earth Iva Uchytilová.
Embellished with Preciosa crystals, Stella and Nisa were undoubtedly the stars of the show, and they were bought by Czech/US hockey legend Patrik Eliáš, who played 20 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New Jersey Devils.
All money raised will go toward UNICEF immunization projects for the 30 million infants around the world growing up without basic vaccines. Over the last fifteen years this project has raised more than €1 million for UNICEF’s immunization programs, and despite its humble beginnings, the Adopt a Doll auction has become a signature UNICEF event in the Czech Republic.
However, this is not the end of the road for Stella and Nisa; this December they will also be appearing at the New York edition of the Adopt a Doll charity auction, alongside a fabulous doll by American fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra, who designs for Michelle Obama among others. We are delighted to announce that his doll will also feature some of our finest Preciosa Bohemian crystals.
The New York auction will take place at the Bohemian National Hall on December 11th. If you’d like to donate to UNICEF, visit www.unicef.org.
