Diane von Furstenberg’s Iconic Wrap Dress
Gets a Crystal-coated Makeover

Often credited with being the symbol of women’s liberation during the 1970’s, Diane von Furstenberg’s jersey, often brightly patterned wrap dresses are the emblem of her brand. So it was only fitting that her supermodel plus-one to the 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards, the stunning Barbara Palvin, donned a floor length version made entirely of Preciosa crystal net. Custom designed to match the delicate brushstroke patterned slip dress worn underneath, the crystal netted wrap consisted of more than 35,000 crystals. The cherry on top of a very special evening for “DvF,” the dress served as a symbolic commemoration of the “end of an era” during which she served as the Chairman of the CFDA and as the proverbial godmother of American fashion, a role that has been officially passed on to Tom Ford.
