Miro Sabo SS 18: Patchwork, Renaissance and Preciosa crystals

Young and talented Miro Sabo debuted his latest collection at last week’s Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week, which was inspired by the Renaissance as well as sustainable fashion.

As such, in addition to luxury fabrics, some outfits were created from leftover textile from Sabo’s atelier and decorated with Preciosa crystals.

“Part of my latest collection consists of clothes composed of even ten different types of fabric – the rest is coutured with silk dupion, silk velvet and flax,” Sabo explains. “My idea was to combine what seems un-combinable concerning colors, materials and shapes. I like it very much and I’d love to develop it even more in future. You can also see that a heavy influence Italian Renaissance and European history that has inspired me since I began designing,” he added.

Luxurious fabrics and premium Bohemian crystals are expertly harmonized using a patch-working technique. “The creative process in fashion produces a lot of waste. I tried to use what would otherwise have no meaning, so I merged my leftovers and with new materials in sophisticated shapes, which takes a lot of patience, skill and handwork,” says Sabo. “I drew from my experience working and tailoring for private clients.”

Sabo’s show at MBPFW was supported by Preciosa. “We were delighted by the opportunity to collaborate Miro Sabo, one of the Czech Republic’s rising designers,” says Karel Páral, Commercial Development Director, Preciosa Components. “Furthermore, Miro Sabo’s attitude toward sustainability in fashion and his commitment to the finest craftsmanship is very much in line with the Preciosa values.”
