High Street Chain Collaborates with Young Czech Designer

Czech/Slovak perfumery chain Douglas have introduced their latest must-have gift for the festive season.

The item is a stylish designer bag, created by Czech menswear pioneer Jan Černý. Suitable for toiletries or cosmetics, it comes accompanied by the ultimate accessory – a crystal embellished bracelet, taken from Černý´s SS19 collection Egotrip, made using the finest bohemian crystal from Preciosa.

Preciosa – one of the oldest and most prestigious crystal producers in the world – has a history of supporting young Czech designers; it was a pleasure for us to participate in this exclusive collaboration.

For the campaign, a short film was made starring models Anna Brodecká & Oliver Průcha, directed by Jakub Jahn, who worked with Preciosa Components on their latest St. Elsewhere collection.

Bold and fresh, Jan Černý has – despite his very young age – already carved out his own unmistakable niche in the Czech fashion industry. This year he stole the spotlight at Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week with a male-only collection for SS 2019, called Egotrip. The collection, inspired by a combination of streetwear and various classic uniforms, was a sensation. “Couture, craftsmanship, crystal components and bling in streetwear? It looks amazing and very wearable. YES!” commented Vogue Czechoslovakia on the collection.

Vogue also commented on the unusual bracelets that Černý used in the collection; “I was inspired by my childhood trips,” explains Černý. He used Preciosa´s crystal-filled Plastic Bandings with fragments from paintings of Czech painter Martin Lukáč.

The designer bag is a complimentary gift for any customer who spends over 6000czk/230 euros in any Douglas store in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
