What’s it like to make clothes for a queen? Ask Fernando Marin; at 31 years of age, this Colombian design protégée has made a name for himself creating looks for multiple beauty pageant finalists around the globe.
His latest subject was Miss Earth finalist Valeria Ayos, who took to the stage in Manila, Philippines on Saturday 3rd November 2018. The dress he created was a shimmering, champagne-colored masterpiece that featured more than fourteen-thousand crystals from Preciosa Components, in colors Crystal Blond Flare and Aqua Bohemica AB.
Underneath the crystals was a leather tull base with guipure lace, perfectly designed and tailored to hug the body, with a diagonal neckline finishing at the shoulder.
“I really love to work with crystals that are high in brilliance, which is why I love to work with Preciosa. This dress uses more than 14,000 crystals, which is amazing. I am very proud of what we have created. I really think the crystals have brought a special touch of luxury to the work”, says Marin.
The thousands of crystals used as embellishment give the dress a uniquely dazzling appearance; truly it is a piece worthy of a queen!
