“GQ Men of the Year is an opportunity to celebrate the most influential and successful men in the world. We chose Preciosa crystals because they perfectly symbolize the prestige and glamour of the occasion,” says Jose Santana, the director of GQ Portugal. The 15 award categories include fashion designer of the year, musician of the year and style icon of the year.
The glass trophies are embellished with six thousands black Preciosa crystals. It took almost 600 hours for our team of glass experts to attach the crystals one-by-one to the trophies. Every one was hand-made, each weighing 1,5 kg.
“Making this particular trophy was a great opportunity for our expert glassmakers from Crystal Valley,” says Karel Páral, Commercial Development Director at Preciosa Components. “We are always happy to customize our production and therefore, working with GQ was a real pleasure. I am personally thrilled that some truly exceptional men will take these exquisite trophies made of Bohemian crystal home with them,” he adds.
GQ Men of the Year is not the first exclusive collaboration between Preciosa and a major fashion magazine. Just a few weeks ago, Preciosa and Vogue Portugal got together to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the “Fashion Bible”, and created a limited edition of its October issue. On the cover, there was a photo of Angolan supermodel Maria Borges by Slovak photographer Branislav Šimončík covered in hundreds of Preciosa crystals, which are mostly used in high-end fashion products.
